The artwork comes from De Cruce (1593) by Justus Lipsius, a humanist study on the history and forms of crucifixion. The original images were precise engravings produced by the Plantin press in Antwerp. Lipsius classified different types of ancient crosses and used these plates to correct common visual errors of his time. The book later became a reference for theologians and classicists, and its engravings circulated as standalone studies of ancient execution methods. Featuring, additionally, our rebranding of the message. Enjoy.
